On a Fulbright Senior Specialist Fellowship to the University of Copenhagen.
My first day teaching a one-week workshop: Seeing as a Way of Knowing/Photography as a Way of Thinking. This is an experiment: condensing a one-semester course into a single week. Monday is Light, Tuesday is Significant Detail, Wednesday is Landscape Poetics, Thursday is Narrating the Context of Place, Friday is a review of the week and a discussion of how photography can inform landscape design and planning. To see the full semester course at MIT, see Sensing Place: Photography as Inquiry.
A field trip to the studio site: Carlsberg Brewery.
Walking down Ny Carlsbergvej, on my way home, I peeked into a courtyard, where a brilliant green box sat amidst shades of grey. I stepped through the gate and made a photograph.

A man stepped out of a doorway spoke a gruff challenge: What was I doing here? I just had to photograph this wonderful green box. That’s no box. It’s a refrigerator! Come see. May I take your photograph?
